Carol Ann Hess Obituary Carol Ann Hess, 87 of Protem, Missouri, formerly of Valparaiso, passed away Thursday, January 2, 2025 in Missouri. She was born December 11,1937 in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of George and Bernice (Decoster) Skudlark. She graduated Hobart High School 1955. On April 21,1956 Carol married William L. Hess and enjoyed 60 devoted years raising two children, travelling to almost every tourist destination west of Indiana, then retiring on Bull Shoals Lake near Branson, MO where they loved attending music shows and antiquing together. William "Bill" preceded her in death February 28, 2017. Surviving is her son William G. Hess, of Protem, MO, daughter Diana C. (Chris) Flener of Berea, Kentucky, 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, sisters Karen Thompson, Susan Skudlark and Lona Jeck sisters-in-law Betty OHearn, Melanie Hess and Frenda Hess. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Judy Skudlark. Carol was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker. Her focus was always more on family than herself, but she found time to enjoy reading, shopping at flea markets/garage sales, camping, crocheting, crafting, bookkeeping and talking on the phone for hours with family and friends. She was a gentle listener to all that needed a caring ear, but a strong warrior in all matters of life. Carol was a member/secretary of the Womens Auxiliary in Lazy Acres, AR. Her memory will be cherished by so many who described her as caring, thoughtful and selfless.
Visitation will be held Friday, January, 10, 2025, 3-7 pm at Bartholomew Funeral Home, 102 Monroe St, Valparaiso. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 11:00 am at Bartholomew Funeral Home, Father Jerry Schweizer will be officiating
