Carol Gilman Holsonback, 76, resident of Calhoun Road East, wife of Michael J. Holsonback, passed away Friday, September 12, 2025 at her daughter's home on Lake Greenwood.
Born May 18, 1949 in Reading, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Bertha Merritt Gilman. She was a graduate of the New England Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Boston. Mrs. Holsonback was a devoted nurse having worked til retirement from the Ninety Six School District #52 after 28 years of service, and then retiring again from Wesley Commons, after a total of 41 years of service due to her full and part time work there
A member of Siloam Baptist Church for over 48 years, she was also an avid reader, a world traveler and enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends. She was adept at Jeopardy, answering questions with relative ease.
Surviving in addition to her husband of 54 years are a daughter, Amy H. (Jimmy) Hughes of Greenwood; a brother, Dave (Anne) Gilman of Greenwood; a daughter-in-law, Julie Holsonback of Fountain Inn; four grandchildren, Reid Hughes of Summerville, Kaylee Hughes and Kinsley Hughes of Greenwood and Maddie Holsonback of Fountain Inn; a niece Melissa (Neil) Talbot and a nephew, Andrew Gilman, all of Greenwood.
She was predeceased by her son, Scott Holsonback.
Memorial services will be conducted Monday, September 15th, at 1:30 in the afternoon at Siloam Baptist Church with Rev. Phillip Howle officiating. Visitation will follow the service at the church.
Honorary escort will be Connie Cobb Hayden, a special friend for over 48 years, and Lauren Hastings and Amy Surrett, whom Carol considered her "Angel's in White" for the love and care they provided during her extended illness.
The family will be at the home of her daughter Amy at 303 Indigo Way.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Here for a Reason Suicide Prevention Foundation, P.O. Box 23, Greenwood, SC 29648.
