Carol was born on April 4, 1965, in Dickinson, North Dakota, to Willard and Irene (Keller) Kovaloff. She graduated from Killdeer High School in 1984, and later welcomed her beloved daughter, Jessica.
After high school, Carol pursued her passion for education, earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Dickinson State University. She began student teaching in Mandan before eventually settling in Belfield, where she found her calling as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). Carol had a true caregiver’s heart and dedicated her life to helping others.
Carol loved the simple joys in life reading, writing, camping, and making homemade chokecherry jelly, pickled beets, and other canned goods. She was an avid collector of cookbooks, especially cherishing old church editions. Her thriftiness and love of tradition especially her Thanksgiving meals were well known, and her humor and laughter lit up every room she entered. She shared a special bond with her twin sister, Connie.
Above all, Carol treasured her role as a grandmother to Charlotte, who brought her endless joy and pride.
Carol will be remembered for her generous spirit, her warm smile, and her deep love for her family.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Jessica (Joe) Bates of Grass Lake, MI; granddaughter, Charlotte; mother, Irene Kovaloff of Killdeer; siblings, Bruce Kovaloff of Killdeer, Brian (Hope) Kovaloff of Mandan, Rhonda (Todd) Pfenning of Zap, Connie (Arnie) Dvorak of Dickinson, and Julie (Tyler) Stevens of South Carolina; nieces and nephews: Amber (Brian) Mueller, Justin Dvorak, Hunter and Riley Kovaloff, Sarah Kovarik, Isabella, Teghearnan, Olivia, and Wyatt Stevens; and great-niece and nephew, Gabrielle and Owen.
She was preceded in death by her father, Willard, and her grandparents, John and Edith Kovaloff and Gotthilf and Ann Keller.
