Carol J. Lundgren, age 86, a longtime resident of
Naperville, IL, formerly of Oak Lawn, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 31, 2025. She was born on March 25, 1939, in Oak Lawn, IL.
Beloved wife of the late Norman O. Lundgren, whom she married on October 3, 1959 and who preceded her in death on May 11, 1998, loving mother of Kenneth (Marge) Lundgren of Bradenton, FL, Rev. Richard (Dr. Rob Davis) Lundgren of Aurora, IL, Mary (Bob) Beebe of Crest Hill, IL and Christy (Scott) Matthews of Naperville, adored grandmother of Roxanne (Rich) Shetina, Steve Clancy and Gina (Adam) Kruchten; James Beebe; Jacob and Katelynn Matthews, cherished great-grandmother of Kelly Shetina; Aden Clancy; Connor and Chase Kruchten, devoted daughter of the late Lawrence and Harriet (nee Reitz) Feil, dear sister of the late Ann, Sr. Mary Jane, Lawrence, Jr. "Bud", Fr. Karl and Richard "Dick", fond sister-in-law, cousin, aunt, great-aunt, great-great aunt and friend of many.
Carol grew up in Oak Lawn and after graduating high school she worked at Walter E. Heller and Company as a secretary where she would meet her beloved husband, Norm. The two enjoyed dinners out at the Berghoff restaurant downtown Chicago when they dated. Carol's proudest job was taking care of her four children, and she loved her role as a homemaker. She was known to many of her children's friends as a second mother, feeding them homemade dinners and chatting at the kitchen table with them. Carol was also one of the most famous food and wine demonstrators at her local Targets and Dominick's. This is a job she loved because she was a charming saleswoman and a true social butterfly. She would also pursue a coordinator position for this career when her children were raised. Her hobbies included gardening, cooking, fashion, and finding the best deals at her local stores. She attended Catholic mass every Sunday and her faith in the Lord was always unwavering through all of life's ups and downs. Carol lived fiercely independent at age 86, surrounded by her dear friends at her apartment, driving and taking care of herself, up until her short illness. She had one of the most positive attitudes of anyone you would ever meet. Her pride in her children and grandchildren was overflowing. Neighborhood block parties and family parties were always a joy with her there. Carol was always grateful for her full life and precious faith. She will be missed by many friends and family.
