With immense love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of our beloved Carol Mamot, "Grammy," who left us on April 17, 2025.
Born on December 29, 1942, in Omaha, NE, Carol was full of joy, love, and laughter, filling the hearts of her family and friends with an enduring warmth.
To echo the words of Maya Angelou, "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel." Carol's life was a testament to this, as she touched the lives of so many with her kindness, generosity, and vivacious personality.
Carol married the love of her life, Gilbert Mamot, on September 1, 1962. They had four children: Laura, Lisa, David, and Linda.
Carol was a very devoted wife and mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was involved in every aspect of her children's and grandchildren's lives-activities, school events, and hobbies. She adored her grandchildren and great granddaughter! She created interesting and enjoyable memories for a lifetime. Birthday parties were her favorite, many with theme-based cakes that she thoughtfully provided.
Carol worked at Paula Stringer/Merrill Lynch Residential RE firm, and later at JCPenney Corporate/Alliance Data, running the front desk, where her smile, helpful nature, and kind words were the first impression for all who walked through the office doors. Carol had a radiant personality that drew people toward her, and she was often referred to as a loving, thoughtful, funny, and loyal person.
Carol loved taking photos and creating photo albums, each carefully curated, telling stories of shared laughter, love, and memorable moments. She found interest in her genealogy and enjoyed gathering photos of relatives and writing about her and Gil's family history. She also played piano and hosted "Sing-Alongs" featuring her favorite Christmas carols and Czech songs.
She loved traveling, especially to Hawaii, New York, Cancun, California, Las Vegas and Florida. However, she truly cherished the many trips to Nebraska to visit her mom, sister, nieces and their families, extended relatives, and longtime friends. She missed her mom tremendously over this past year, who passed in February 2024.
Carol also had an extended "surrogate" family and so many loving friends with whom she enjoyed spending time. Her ability to find happiness in every moment and to make every person feel special was truly remarkable. She had an uncanny ability to reach people in a positive way, fostering an atmosphere of love and joy wherever she went.
Carol is survived by her loving husband, Gilbert Mamot, and their children: Laura Cox, Lisa Mamot, David Mamot, and Linda (Glenn) Messer; her cherished grandchildren: Ashley (Nicolas Carroll) Cox, Brittany (Scott) Washle, Mikel Mamot, Chase Messer, and Hayden Messer; and great-granddaughter Camden Paige Washle. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Beatrice Suchy, and her sister, Cheryl Taborski.
Carol leaves behind a lifetime of precious memories. Her delightful presence will be dearly missed, but her legacy will continue to live on through her family and the innumerable lives she touched.
