Cress Funeral Home & Cremation Services - WaunakeeCarol Mae Marks, age 72, passed away on September 10, 2025, at Agrace Hospice Care with her loving husband at her side after a two-year battle with ovarian cancer. She was born July 12,1953 to Roland “Bunny” Schwenn and Clarice (Rortvedt) Schwenn.
Carol Mae graduated from Lodi High School in 1971 and worked for a Madison insurance company for 30 years, retiring in 2012. She was united in marriage to her best friend Harley “Bugsy” Marks on February 21, 1981. They loved traveling (especially to Florida) and cruising on weekends in their Mustang convertible. Carol Mae was an avid Badger, Packer, Brewer, and Home Talent Baseball Fan.
Carol Mae is survived by her husband of 44 years, Bugsy, brother, Ron (Heidi) Schwenn and their family; Tyler (Brenda), and children, Justin (Rebecca) and son, Jenna (Trevor) and children; Sister, Lois “Cookie” (Gerald Adler), Sue Haack and family, In laws; Ray and Judy Marks, Bob Marks, Russ and Sue Malisch, and Mike and Patty Hewitt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Larry “Lars” Schwenn (on May 28, 2025), father and mother-in-law Harley and Marcella Marks, parental grandparents Frank and Jenny Schwenn, maternal grandmother Anna Rortvedt and brother-in-law Ken Marks.
Thank you to everyone for all the support and time given to be with Carol Mae while she fought her cancer journey. Every card, phone call, text, gift card and meal put a smile on her face. Carol Mae cherished her time with her friends and loved shopping, going out to eat and an ice-cold Diet Pepsi. Please remember Carol Mae’s fun personality, sassy/quick wit, sense of humor, and for her love of her family and friends.
Thank you to Agrace Hospice Care for all your help and organization, and to my husband: Thank you for making sure my final days were comfortable and filled with love. You loved me through the good, the bad, the happy and the sad.
A Celebration of Carol Mae’s Life & luncheon will be held at Rex’s Innkeeper from 12:00pm until 4:00pm on Sunday, September 28, 2025.
