Carol Mueller Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Kerr Brothers Funeral Home - Main St. on Sep. 26, 2025.
Carol Elaine Mueller (Lagedrost) passed away in the morning of September 26, 2025, at age 83. Carol was the middle child of Walter and Mary Lagedrost. Her older sister and closest friend, Marilyn Satterfield, left us in 2021. Carol remained close to her younger brother, Larry Lagedrost, and his wife, Nancy.

In addition to Larry and Nancy, Carol is survived by her children Michelle Elizabeth Mueller and Joseph Edward Hurt-Mueller; Joseph's wife Jamie, and her grandchildren Elizabeth and James "Will" Hurt-Mueller; nieces Melanie White, Wendy Chaney, and Cindy Witte; and nephews Brian Evans and Matt Lagedrost.

Carol was born in Cincinnati, OH, on February 8, 1942. The family moved south across the river to Fort Thomas, KY, during her childhood and this was her primary home through college. She graduated from St. Thomas High School and Thomas More College in northern Kentucky. She enjoyed literature and languages and combined these in her French studies. She considered moving to New York to act as a translator at the United Nations but ultimately chose to stay in Kentucky.

She married and moved to Lexington, KY in 1968. She worked as a bookkeeper most of her adult life, later taking computer classes in the punch card days at what was then Lexington Community College. She was running queries as well as processing checks up until her retirement from Walmac Farm in 2015.

Carol loved to travel. Her home is full of pictures and souvenirs from around the world. She usually brought home books and playing cards depicting historic sites. Even after retirement, Carol chose to continue her education by attending classes through the University of Kentucky's Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI). She particularly enjoyed history as well as various other topics.

Her health, especially several broken bones from various falls, kept her home with her beloved cats more in the last few years of her life. She still enjoyed shorter trips to visit brother Larry in northern Kentucky and to western Kentucky to stay with Jamie's father, Jim, and stepmother, Randa.

At home, Carol looked forward to family meals with Michelle, Joseph, Jamie, Elizabeth, and Will – especially if there was time for a game of Tripoley, too.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to God's Pantry Food Bank (https://www.godspantry.org /) or Mercy Home (https://www.mercyhome.org /).

Aunt Carol, you will be missed. I admired your sense of humor and intelligence. I will remember all the Christmases the family spent together. I know my mom, your sister, is hanging out with you and having a good time. My sympathy to the Mueller family.
