Carol Elaine Patnode of Hayes, Virginia, was born in Plattsburgh, New York, on December 29, 1943, to the late Martin Higgins and Althea Smith Higgins. Surrounded by her family, she peacefully entered the next stage of life in our Lord on Monday, July 14, 2025, at 81. She is a member of St. James On-the-Glebe Anglican Church and retired as an office manager from Hampton Roads Academy. Her son, Christopher Patnode, and grandson, Anthony Patnode, preceded Carol in death. She is survived by her loving husband, Louis G. Patnode, daughter Michelle Needham (John), granddaughters Rachel and Laura, and great-grandsons David, Michael, and Cooper. A Celebration of Life Service, officiated by the Reverend Kevin Fife, will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 19, 2025, at St. James On-the-Glebe Anglican Church, 6124 Abingdon Glebe Lane, Gloucester, VA 23061, followed by a reception at the St. James Carriage House. Inurnment will be private. The family requests memorial contributions to St James on the Glebe at the above addressservices under the direction of Hogg Funeral Home.
