Carol Ann Pingitore, 88, of Auburn, MA passed away with her loved ones by her side following her struggles with recent health issues. Carol was born in Worcester, MA on February10, 1936, the daughter of James Sullivan and Ann (Hughes) Sullivan. Carol graduated from North High School, Worcester, MA in 1953, from Worcester City Hospital School of Nursing in1956, and obtained her BS Degree from St. Joseph's College of Maine, in 1983. Carol worked as a Registered Nurse for many years at the former Worcester State Hospital, and later worked providing mental health treatment in the community before her retirement.

Carol married Ralph Pingitore in 1963. Ralph, who was a WWII U.S. Army Veteran, predeceased her. They were blessed with three children: Robert and his wife, Laura, of Rutland, MA, Ann Pingitore-Spring and her husband George Spring, of Auburn, MA with whom she lived with for many years, and Donna Anderson and her husband John, of Leominster, MA. She also maintained a loving relationship with her step-daughter, Patricia Reagan, and her husband Dennis, of Sterling, MA, Carol leaves eight grandchildren: Samantha (Jon) Sullivan, Brianna and Matthew Pingitore, Derek (Nicole) Pingitore, Tiffany and Vanessa Spring, Max (Kelley) Anderson, and Kristi Anderson, and three great grandchildren Kaiya and Nalani Pingitore, and Jaycee Anderson. Carol also leaves her cousins Thomas Desy, Brenda, Dominique, and Ava Diggs, who affectionately called her Grammy Carol, and her long-term friends Patricia Bantley and Claire Perry, as well as extended family members and her chosen family many from the Webster Square area where she raised her children, which includes many bonus children and grandchildren throughout the years.

Carol enjoyed her career as a psychiatric nurse and loved to travel with her children when they were young, and in later years with her Aunt Mary (Hughes) Desy, who predeceased her, and many friends and neighbors. She especially loved her annual trips to Hampton Beach with the family, and she preferred to travel to her destinations by car as she believed that the best way to see the U.S.A. was to drive it. This included two cross country trips to California. Her travels also included international destinations and her favorite trip was to her family homeland in Ireland.

Carol took great pleasure in watching and attending any sporting event, and was an avid Boston Red Sox, and New England Patriots fan. She never missed a game or program that her children, and her grandchildren participated in. As a high school student, Carol was a standout basketball player, and would hurry home after games to hear her name on the radio. Above all else she enjoyed spending time with her family and never missed a family gathering or event. She was loved by many, and will be greatly missed by all who were blessed to have known her.

The family would like to thank Care Central VNA & Hospice, Inc. for their professional and compassionate care on this journey, and her longstanding PCP, Walter Goljan, MD.
