Carol (McGaughey) Reinhold passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at Sarah Reed Senior Living. She was born on December 24, 1931, in North East, PA and affectionately called "Christmas Carol" by her father. She was the daughter of the late Daniel and Gladys (Vaughn) McGaughey
She is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, William Reinhold, her 3 children Mary Jane (Robert) McFarland of Alpharetta, Ga, Dr. John (Gina) Reinhold of Seminole, Fl and Mark Reinhold Esq. of St. Petersburg, Fl. Carol was the proud grandmother of Robert McFarland lll of Denver, Co, Stephen McFarland of Atlanta, Ga, Emily (Travis) Damsker of Bellaire, Fl and Sarah Reinhold of Tampa, Fl. She was also a great-grandmother to Dane Damsker.
She is also survived by her sister Margaret Keough of Ripley, NY and her brother Robert McGaughey of the Villages in Florida. She follows her McGaughey sisters- Marie Nedza, Dolores Bensur, Catherine Cooper, Eileen Farley, and Monica Duke, as well as her beloved brothers John and Francis McGaughey.
Carol attended North East High School and St. Vincent's Nursing School. She had a long career as a nurse working at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York City, Cleveland Clinic, St. Vincent's Hospital and Sarah Reed Senior Living Center.
Whether you knew her as Carol, Mom, Grandma or Aunt Carol, she was always the person you could count on to offer help, wise words or a witty observation.
Her life was focused on family and faith. Carol was very active in the Blessed Sacrament Parish and Blessed Sacrament School. She was the President of the school PTA and was "room mother " for all three children. She helped to organize and coordinate countless room parties, Communion breakfasts and ice cream socials.
Carol was a talented seamstress, designing fashionable ensembles for herself as well as ice skating costumes, Halloween costumes, prom dresses and countless Cub scout patches. She also found time to be Den Mother for John and Mark as Cub Scouts. Carol is also a former president of the Erie County Pharmaceutical Auxiliary association.
Even after Carol retired from nursing, she stayed quite busy. She was an active and enthusiastic member of the Irish Cultural Society and was inducted as a Lady of St. Patrick. She and Bill traveled to Hawaii and Rome and Ireland and the Canadian Rockies. They also visited Florida, Washington, California, Maryland and Georgia visiting their children and grandchildren.
Carol has been the matriarch of her large and extended family. No one was a stranger to her- she was always welcoming and curious about meeting new people and she seemed to know everyone. She was known for her candor and opinions and it was always interesting to be engaged in conversation with her. The world is a bit less colorful now that we don't have her with us.
Friends may call on Friday, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th St. and may attend a prayer service there on Saturday morning at 9:15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Blessed Sacrament Church at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
