Carol Ann Roberts was born in Trenton, New Jersey, to Booker and Edith Roberts on November 13, 1942.
Carol was educated in the Trenton Public School System. She spent her early life as a homemaker, raising her children and grandchildren. She became a licensed beautician in Brooklyn, New York, before returning to Trenton, NJ, to continue her career as a hair stylist. In her later years, Carol became a Certified Home Health Aide before ending her employment due to disability.
Lovingly known to friends and family as Mom, Grandma, Speed, Miss Carol, or Pie Lady, she spent her life caring for and giving to those who needed it most. She enjoyed baking, selling sweet potato pies, and spending time with her family-especially during the holidays. She loved a good time and, more importantly, getting dressed up and looking good for all to see-"honey chile".
Carol loved fashion and fitness. Ms. Carol, as neighbors and friends knew her, was always happy to help out by providing food to hungry families every chance she got. You always left her presence laughing and with a smile on your face. When she wasn't helping someone or baking pies, she was doing her scratch-offs. Her many stories and trips to get her cards will be missed.
Carol had a strong faith in God and enjoyed attending church when she was able. Her favorite saying was, "It's over when God says it's over."
She was predeceased by her father, Booker Roberts; mother and stepfather, Edith and James Matthews; two brothers, Eugene Roberts and Stanley Kees; and her lifelong and forever friend, Wilbert Wheeler.
She is survived by her three daughters: Kimberly Roberts of Trenton, NJ; Lisa (and son-in-law, James) Wilson of Trenton, NJ; and Twanda Wheeler of Levittown, PA; eight grandchildren: Shakira N. Roberts, Kirby J. James, Jermaine D. Steward, Eboni M. Harris, Terrielle Paul, Evan G. Harris, Prince Jones, and Milan S. Reaves; one great-grandson, Kevin James; one great-granddaughter, Leighani Paul; sister, Colette (and brother-in-law, Alex Carter) of Syracuse, NY; aunt, Yvonne Downing West of Boston, MA; nephews, Mark Roberts (Dana)and Eugene Roberts (Nicole) both of Las Vegas, NV, and Jamal Roberts of Trenton, NJ; and a host of cousins, friends, and loved ones.
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge shall give me at that day: and not me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing." 2 Timothy 4:7-8
