Roberta Williams was born on September 1, 1945, in Manhattan, New York, to the late Louis Thomas and Sarah Mae Mills. She peacefully departed this life in Ewing Township, New Jersey, surrounded by love and family.
Roberta was educated in the Lambertville Public School System in Lambertville, New Jersey. She went on to attend Mercer County Community College, where she earned her associate's degree in education, and later pursued studies at New York University for a certification for the Head Start Program. A lifelong learner and passionate educator, Roberta taught in the Trenton Public School System, touching the lives of countless students.
In 1983, Roberta graduated from Wilfred Academy Beauty School, where she honed her talent and became affectionately known as "The Queen of the Gheri Curl." She later retired in 1995 from the City of Trenton, where she faithfully served for many years as a secretary at the Department of Sanitation.
In 2004, Roberta and her twin sister, Alberta, established Twin Tours, a beloved travel business through which they organized over 75 trips-creating lasting memories for family and friends.
Roberta and her husband, Glenn Williams were married on July 6, 1991, and together, they built a beautiful family filled with joy and devotion.
Roberta was a devoted mother to her children: Dessie Briggs, Glenn Jr. ( Rena), Louis (Evonne), Mary Edith "Ginger" Braswell, William (Delisha), Cory, Sarah " Butterfly" Holman, and Thomasina "Precious" Braswell; her godchildren, Barbara Steele, Wayne Brown and Terrell Briggs.
She was blessed with 30 grandchildren, 69 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride.
Her loving siblings include: Alberta T. Martin (twin sister), Betty Iola Thomas, Joan Randolph, Lisa Case Cupid, William Troy Collier Jr., and Louis Vernon Thomas Jr.
She also leaves behind special nephews, Albertito Colon and Devean Martin, and special nieces, Sarah Lynn Martin, Barbara Steele, Roberta "Cinnamon" Martin, Sarah Louise Simmons and Mikki Gaymon.
A woman of deep faith and compassion, In 2024, she joined and was welcomed with open arms into Light of the World Ministries, under Pastor Leo Sherard. Roberta was a devoted member for over 24 years at True Servant Worship Center where she served on the
Missionary Board. She volunteered at all Healing Stream Cancer Awareness Walk. She was also a proud member of the Eastern Star, the Water Walkers, and Queen of Purpose.
Roberta led by example-as a Girl Scout Cadet Leader, line dancer, and dedicated volunteer at Better Way Food Pantry. She was a Greeter at the Women's Gathering every year and also co-hosted a weekly podcast "Aging Gracefully" with Yolanda "Landy" Robinson.
Roberta's talents and passions were endless. She loved to travel, make jewelry and homemade blankets, and play Trouble with her beloved twin sister, Alberta. She was known for her delicious Haitian cuisine, her famous meat pies, and those delicious "Mama's Cookies." Roberta's kitchen was always filled with warmth, laughter, and love.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Glenn Williams; parents, Louis and Sarah Thomas; grandmother, Gussie Mae Mills; siblings, Margaret Monet, Robert Lee Thomas, and Daryl Terry Smith, as well as her sons-in-law, Thomas Braswell and Bernard Baines.
Roberta leaves to cherish her memory her devoted family, a host of beloved friends and family including Danielle Jackson, Rita Norman; cousins, Carol Jackson and Patricia Redding, and dear friend Dorothy Covington.
Roberta lived a full, vibrant life centered on love, laughter, faith, and family: Her legacy will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who loved and knew her.
