Carol Ann Short, age 67, of Stanton, TN, passed away peacefully on July 24,2025, surrounded by the love of her family that she so deeply cherished. She will be missed by all who had the joy of knowing her.
She was a devoted homemaker, but Carol enjoyed working side jobs over the years, often selling makeup and perfume. With her natural beauty and charm, she quickly became known as the pretty face behind the counter.
Carol was a lover of nature. She enjoyed planting flowers in the spring, tending to her garden, and spending peaceful moments with her beloved horses. Whether she was horseback riding through open pastures or collecting horse figurines for her treasured collection, her love for these animals never faded over the years.
She was known for her honesty, wit, and a signature phrase that brought both warning and wisdom: "I'm just saying." With that phrase, you knew she was about to tell it like it was which more often than not, she was right. Her words carried the weight of experience, wrapped in humor and was always delivered with a caring heart. Above all else, Carol was proudest of her family, especially her grandson, Sean. There wasn't a person she met who didn't hear about his accomplishments and the light he brought to her life.
Carol is preceded in death by her husband, Mike Short, her parents, Wayne and Ann Peeler and her brother-in-law, Jere Edwin Mason. She is survived by her daughter, Jessica "Jessie" Mears (Mike), her grandson, Sean Mears and her sister, Connie Mason.
A celebration of her life will be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 2:00pm at Maley Yarbrough Funeral Home with a visitation starting at 1:00pm. The burial will follow at Charleston Cemetery.
