Obituary published on Legacy.com by Owen Funeral Home - Dixie Highway on Nov. 14, 2024.
Carol Lee Schneiders Siemens peacefully left this world to be with her heavenly Father on November 10, 2024, surrounded by her devoted family.
To know Carol was to experience her boundless love. Her love language was acts of service, which she expressed most deeply through feeding others. Anyone who entered her home was greeted with a warm meal, generous snacks, her family's famous hobble grits, and the assurance that they would leave completely stuffed – and hydrated if her husband Joe was around. Most importantly, everyone left her home feeling like family.
She had a remarkable gift for making everyone feel valued and loved. Authentic in every word she spoke, never offering praise for the sake of flattery (she comes from a long line of straight shooters), she possessed a rare ability to find something good in everyone.
Carol is called many things: My Bride, Mom, Grandma, MawMaw, Aunt Carol, Speedy. She loved playing each of those roles, but the love of her life was her husband Joe who called her his bride for 62 years. They built a beautiful life together full of faith, family, friends, and FUN. Raising their 4 children was their proudest achievement.
Carol also valued friendship and was blessed to have many lifelong friends whom she considered family. There were "The Girls" and her Tuesday night group, and the many friends they traveled with. She was still gathering regularly with a group of friends from high school. Carol and Joe also spent countless happy times with Betty & Smudge Martin and Mary & Charlie Crush including creating many happy memories for the enormous extended family at their shared lake house in Doe Valley.
Carol was born in
Louisville, KY on May 25, 1936, to Edward and Emma Schneiders. She attended St. George Grade School and Loretto High School. Carol was proud of her years spent working at the Kentucky School for the Blind. She also spent time working at Mosley Photography Studio and, in her younger years, several Derby weekends serving race fans at Churchill Downs'.
A devout Catholic, Carol was a longtime parishioner of Mary Queen of Peace (St. Helen) and Sts. Simon & Jude and was active in The Archdiocese of Louisville all her life. She made several religious pilgrimages including to The Vatican, Assisi, Conyers, and Padre Pio's Shrine in New York
She is preceded in death by her adoring husband Joe Siemens, her father Edward Schneiders, her mother Emma Schneiders, her sister Jean Gast, and many other loved ones.
Committed to continuing Carol' legacy of service are her children Terri Stoltz (Mike), Joe Siemens, Jr (Melinda), Mike Siemens (Sharla), and Lisa Bickel (Danny); her grandchildren Shannan Siemens Bucher (Greg), Ryan Siemens, Tara Stoltz, Mitch Siemens (Beth), Dylan Bickel, Ashley Hurd (Connor), Hannah Bickel; her great-grandchildren Harper, Carol Wallis, Sadie Mae, Joey, Bettie, Scarlett, Blanche, Louis, and Sally; her sister Sharon and brother-in-law Chick DeSensi; and her innumerable, much loved nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will take place at Owen Funeral home (5317 Dixie Hwy) on November 21 from 3p - 7p ET. Carol's funeral Mass will be celebrated at Mary Queen of Peace (4005 Dixie Hwy) on November 22 at 10a ET.
Carol's family would be grateful for expressions of sympathy made to Love Transformation Project.
