Carole Ruth Edwards Davis, 82, of Corpus Christi, TX, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2025
. She was born on October 20, 1942, in San Antonio, TX, to Glady and Davis Edwards. In her early years, Carole was known for her beauty and intelligence, and was fortunate to be able to skip two grades in school. For her entire life, she was a passionate lover of books. With her spirited soul, her wild heart, and a uniquely stubborn streak, she lived a life as colorful as the novels she cherished. Her journey as a mother began at the tender age of 15, when she welcomed the first of her three children. One of her children was lovingly adopted by her parents, a testament to the strength and support of her family. Though her life had taken its twists and turns in her youth, she remained determined to complete her high school education. Carole pursued her GED later in life. And then her determination carried her further—She completed a business degree from Corpus Christi’s local business school
. Eventually, she found joy in working outdoors at Goose Island State Park, looking after the land and the creatures, and having an unspoken bond with the squirrels. She worked at the State Park for many years--a job she ultimately retired from. Carole was known to be a brilliant seamstress; Her family remembers the elaborate 19th century costumes she crafted for the Rockport Centennial celebration. In her kitchen, Carole found joy in baking cakes and desserts- including pineapple upside-down cake, better-than-sex cake, and hummingbird cake. Her recipes, like her love, were unique and unforgettable. Above all, she will be remembered for living life according to her own standards, surrounded by the books she adored, with a large dash of unforgettable determination, to the very end
.Carole was preceded in death by her parents, Glady and Davis Edwards.
She is survived by her two brothers and their wives, Donny and Betty Edwards, and Bobby and Lynn Edwards; her two daughters, Tina Marie Hopkins, and Dana Raneé Trosclair, of Corpus Christi, and her son, David Edwards; her grandchildren, Macky, Kimburli, Shane, Cody, Jason, Keith, and Derek; and her nine great-grandchildren .Now at peace and in heaven, Carole joins those who went before her.
