Caroline L. Griffin, born on September 16, 1933, in Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on October 11, 2025.
For many years, Caroline worked as the kitchen manager at the Louisville Country Club, where she was known not only for her organizational skills but also for her planning, creativity, and attention to detail.
Caroline's heart was ever expansive, and she cherished the time she spent with her friends at Helenic Senior Living in New Albany. It was in these moments that she created lasting memories that brought her joy. Caroline was also a devoted member of Park Christian Church, where she served faithfully over the years. Her giving nature extended beyond her immediate circle, as many called her "Mom".
She is survived by her children, Erin (Al) Curtis, Cynthia (Wayne) Wright, Kimberley (Jeff) Leatherman, Kelly (Jeffrey) Knop, Scott (Stacey) Griffin, and Patrick (Angela) Griffin; her sister, Vera (Dale) Johnson; her brother-in-law, Dieter Geckler; as well as 14 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Caroline rejoins her beloved husband, Charles "Chick" Griffin, who she was married to for 64 years. Along with her parents, Chester Saunders and Catherine Hildebrand Saunders, she is also preceded in death by her siblings, Mary Geckler, Chet Saunders, Micky Saunders, and Bob Saunders.
Caroline L. Griffin was a loving matriarch and a friend to many. Her legacy of kindness, service, and generosity will be cherished and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions (3309 Ballard Lane, New Albany). Visitation will continue on Friday at the funeral home from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. Her Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 am on Friday, at the funeral home.
The family requests that contributions in Caroline’s memory be made to American Heart Association (P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692) or St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital (501 St. Jude’s Place, Memphis, TN 38105).
