Caroline M. Prochnow

Caroline M. Prochnow (née Gilbertson) of Dunwoody, Georgia passed away Thursday February 19, 2026, at her home.

Caroline was born March 30, 1931 in Hartford, Washington County, Wisconsin. She is the daughter of the late Arthur C. and Elizabeth M. "Betty" (née Kimbark) Gilbertson. She married Richard "Dick" Prochnow April 3, 1954. Dick preceded her in death on May 1, 2008.

Caroline and her husband moved to Dunwoody in 1969. She worked as an administrative assistant for Paul Revere Insurance Company for many years. An active gal, she enjoyed playing tennis and was a player with the local ALTA tennis team for many years. A lifelong singer, she was a passionate Bass member of the Song of Atlanta Sweet Adelines singing group where she traveled the country and won many medals with her team. Caroline was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in Marietta, Georgia where she also participated in the Praise Team. Later in life, she enjoyed bird watching, pool "floating" and delicious homecooked meals by her daughter Susan.

Caroline is survived by her daughter and son in law, Susan and Charles Craton, III; a son and daughter in law, Patrick and Kristina Prochnow; her grandchildren, Charles Thomas Craton IV and fiancé Courtney Schneider, Calley Craton Solano and her husband Alan; a great granddaughter, Dolores Solano; and a brother, Raymond Gilbertson. In addition to her parents and her husband, Caroline was preceded in death by a brother, Earl Gilbertson.

Funeral services for Caroline will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at 3:00 pm in the Mausoleum Chapel of Peachtree Memorial Park, 5051 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, Peachtree Corners, GA 30092 where Caroline will be reunited with her husband Dick for the first time in 18 years.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that any donations be made in memory of Caroline to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.
