Carolyn Cordes Obituary

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 17, 2025, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Nekoosa. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home in Nekoosa. Visitation will also take place at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Carolyn was born on April 20, 1943, in Barron, WI, to Leon and Agnes (Schaal) Prine. She graduated from Barron High School in 1961. Carolyn married Gerald "Jerry" Cordes on August 15, 1964, at First Methodist Church in Barron. In 2024 they celebrated 60 years of marriage.
Carolyn worked at Nekoosa Medical Center for 24 years, retiring as an insurance claims specialist and assistant office manager in 1999.
Carolyn had a strong faith in the Lord and served Him as an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church since 1970. She was involved in the choir, ladies group and children's ministry.
Carolyn enjoyed reading, crocheting and listening to music. She also had a special gift for connecting with children. She built lasting relationships with the kids she nurtured and with their families. Carolyn's compassionate spirit and radiant smile will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Carolyn is survived by her husband, Jerry Cordes; sons, Scott (Kim) Cordes of Buffalo Grove, IL, and Todd (Claire) Cordes of Marietta, GA; granddaughter, Carly Cordes of Marietta, GA; nieces and nephews, William, Alan and Aaron Cordes, David and Paul Wickre, Erika Dixon, Chris and Ryan Lentz, Jim Kittleson, Joni Campbell and Julie Kittleson; brothers-in-law, Kerwin (Marilyn) Cordes, Bob Lentz and Bard Kittleson; and sister-in-law, Marilyn Wickre.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Leon and Agnes Prine; and sisters, Leondra Lentz and Ruthann Kittleson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Carolyn's name to Bethlehem Lutheran Church, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
The family extends their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staffs at Arborview Court and St. Croix Hospice for the compassionate care given to Carolyn.

We first met Carolyn and Jerry at the Amalfi Resort in Destin Florida. They were friends of Elmer and Carol Zuelke longtime friends. We all became dear friends and did many things together through the years. Carolyn will be so missed by us with her sweet nature and friendly ways.
