Rich attended Lincoln High School and graduated in 1969. During high school he was employed by the Milladore Cheese Factory. As a child he worked at lot on the family farm with his parents.

Rich retired from Stora Enso (Consolidated Papers) in 2008 after 39 years of service. After retirement he was employed by Dean Altmann Trucking for 13 years but had to quit due to worsening health conditions. He served on the Rudolph Volunteer Fire Department for 37 years and was on the Board of Directors and a firefighter and First Responder. Rich was also on the CERA Park Board of Directors through Consolidated Papers. Richard was a lifelong member of St. Philip's Catholic Church and assisted with ushering and lawn mowing.

He was very proud to share a birthday with both of his girls on November 2nd. Throughout the years he enjoyed biking, playing with dog, giving four-wheeler rides, lots of camping at CERA Park, playing sheepshead, family trips to Florida and South Dakota, yearly summer trips to The Dells and Noah's Ark, admiring old cars, and may other adventures. After retirement, Richard enjoyed spending a lot of time with his grandkids and at the YMCA. He met a lot of new friends while doing his daily walking. He enjoyed watching the kid's sporting events and cheering them on. He liked watching the Packer games with the family. He liked his lawn mowed and his cars clean! Retired life also included many bus trips with Kathy and friends to places such as Washington DC, The Smokey Mountains, Branson, and Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Norbert who died at birth. He is survived by his loving and caring wife, Kathryn (Dorshorst). They were married on November 3rd, 1973 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Sigel. They celebrated 50 years of marriage with a celebration in 2023 with many family and friends. He is also survived by daughters Krista (Derek) Pavelec and Sarah (Joseph) Bulcher, as well as eight wonderful grandchildren. He was very proud of each and every one of them! He enjoyed spending time with Alyssa, Matthew and Raylee Pavelec and Stephen, Cecilia, Philomena, Felicity and Anastasia Bulcher. Other surviving family members include his brother and sister-in-law Nolan and Lisa Dorshorst, brother-in-law Dave Dorshorst, and brother and sister-in-law Terry and Patty Weinfurter. Nieces and nephews include Chad (Lindsey) Dorshorst and their son Parker, Jason (Katie) Dorshorst and their sons Grayson and Maddox, Taylor Weinfurter and friend Kody Schmidt, Zach (Alejandra) Weinfurter, and their daughter Claire, Brett (Emily) Weinfurter, Lindsay Dorshorst and her son Rylend, Allie (Phil) Martinez, and Jenna (Jason) Kotterman. He is also survived by many cousins and friends.

In 2021 he was diagnosed with CBS (Cortico Basal Syndrome) which is a form of Parkinson's. Special thanks to all the friends and relativeds who cam to visit, as well as the Rudolph Fire Department who always came when I needed help. The family would like to thank the Interim Hospice team for all the wonderful care they have given to the family over the past year. Also, thank you to Ritchay Funeral Home for their kind service.

To a loving husband, dad and papa. You are free from pain and you can talk, walk and laugh. We all love you! Until we meet again!
