Carolyn Daul, 83, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, May 14, 2025, in the comfort of her home. She was born on January 6, 1942, in Port Arthur, Texas, to Marjorie Baynard and Volney Pinder.
Carolyn grew up in Port Acres, Texas, and spent a large part of her childhood at her beloved grandparents' camp at Indian Lake, running carefree and barefoot along the sandy banks of the Sabine River with her cousins, and following her grandfather, Paw, through the East Texas piney woods as they hunted for squirrels.
Carolyn graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in 1960, and thereafter enrolled at Port Arthur College, where she earned a business degree. Upon graduation from college, Carolyn began working for Gulf Oil Corporation at its Port Arthur refinery, where she remained until she retired thirty-seven years later. While at the refinery, Carloyn was promoted numerous times, and by the time of her retirement in 2000, she had risen to the position of Litigation Coordinator and was responsible for managing the refinery's litigation docket and liaising with the company's outside attorneys. She loved this job, and she was very good at it.
Upon retirement, Carolyn spent much of her time relaxing at the family's beach house at Crystal Beach with her dear husband, Ken, to whom she has been married for over forty years. Carolyn and Ken were truly soulmates and they traveled the world together on numerous memorable cruises.
Carolyn was a die-hard Houston Astros fan who rarely missed a televised game. She also loved listening to a wide variety of music (her favorite was Ray Charles), and she was known for her delicious cooking, a pastime that gave her great satisfaction. But her greatest joy in life came from her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. She was exceedingly proud of all of them, and she loved them more than words could ever express.
Carloyn was a strikingly beautiful and graceful woman, and in her younger years she was oftentimes compared to Audrey Hepburn. She was strong and confident with a clear and inviolate sense of justice and fair play, but she was also very private. She was a wonderful and kind wife, mother, sister, daughter, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She loved unconditionally and brought immeasurable happiness and joy to her family and friends, who included Pam, Rose, Judi, Joy, Martha and Cynthia.
Carolyn will be dearly missed by all.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Daul; children, Michael Eaves and his wife, Sandy, of Beaumont; David Eaves and his wife, Amanda, of Seabrook; Megan Ultis and her husband, Jonathan, of Houston; and Kristen Daul of Sugar Land; grandchildren, Casey Doguet of Beaumont; Sierra Rozen of Houston; Sara Eaves of Washington D.C.; Thomas Eaves of College Station, Texas; Lauren Eaves of New Orleans, Louisiana; Julia Ultis of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Nathan Ultis of Houston; and twins Mea and Clara Daul of Austin; great-granddaughter, Macey Doguet of Tyler, Texas; siblings, Nancy Clark of Fred, Texas and Boyd Dillingham and his wife, Kim, of Port Arthur; niece, Faith Gay of Marfa, Texas; nephew, Gabe Gay of Marfa; and numerous loved ones and close friends.
Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, Marjorie Dillingham and Volney Pinder; stepparents, Boyd Dillingham, Sr. and Florence Pinder; and grandparents, Jesse and Seraphine Baynard.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Macular Degeneration Foundation, P.O. Box 515 Northampton, Massachusetts 01061.
A gathering of Carolyn's family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m. with her funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard's Crematorium.
