We didnt know each other well but you were a wonderful neighbor and I wish you were still there. Enjoyed our conversations about your travels and work. CJ was my stylist for approximately five years. We had quite a bit in common, including similar tastes in music and a love of the outdoors. She was full of life and a fantastic person. Her friends and family are in my thoughts in this extremely difficult time.

Although I was her boss, I loved CJ like a daughter. She was an integral part of our company. Her work and her persona were such a reflection of that perfect stylist many search for. Many staff members modeled themselves after her: she was a trainer, a mentor, a guiding hand, a perfectionist but with grace and beauty. I loved her sense of adventure. She seemed fearless. She skied, traveled widely, and explored her self through health and yoga. She was a bright face, a skilled eye, a kind heart, that has made an indelible mark on all of us. I ask myself these last few days, what would CJ have us do now? I imagine she would say, stay the course, be kind to children and small animals, eat well, live well and continue to make the world a more beautiful place.

Even though I only knew CJ a short time, I will always remember her with great fondness. She not only was a terrific Hair Stylist, she was a joy to be with when she was working on making me look great. We shared stories and adventures and I was looking forward to getting to know her better. Sadly, that will not happen. We talked about my current trip to Florida and I would be at her Memorial today to pay my respects if I was back in Chicago. So, I will think of her today and hope she is smiling down on all of us.

I had the good fortune to spend time with CJ at our yoga retreat in Italy last summer. Intelligent, thoughtful, kind and with a smile as big as the ocean - CJ left a lasting impression as a person of integrity and generosity, a person with a big heart. My big sister, my mentor, my friend.
CJ, you will always remain such an important person in my life. I've looked up to since you started working for my parents at Gordon Salon when you were 18 and I was 13 years old. You did my hair for my wedding and you made me feel comfortable when I was a bundle of nerves, you taught me so much of what I know in the hair industry and you inspired me to lead, grow, learn and how to own my craft. We've traveled together many times and talked about the future. I never, ever saw this coming but I will continue giving great haircuts and smiling--- because I know that is what you would want me to do.

The photo above is me and three of the people that mean the most to me in the world. On Monday one of those beautiful angels passed away. I lost a roll model, an inspiration, a best friend. I lost my aunt Cj. Without you I would have never had the courage to push through and finish cosmetology school. Our trip to Aspen for Wonderlust was one of the most amazing things I have ever experienced and I wouldn't have wanted to be there with anyone else but you. I love you so much, until we meet again Cj.

I had the honor of sitting in CJs chair every 8 weeks over the last 9 years. Over the course of that time we developed a bond and we shared our lives with one another. We spoke of yoga retreats, travel, music, ski trips, family, weddings, breakups, new love, loss. We exchanged happy birthday emails, gift recommendations for our nieces, and Vitamix recipes. Her last book recommendation to me (The Celestine Prophecy) we discussed the idea of being open to the universe and seeing coincidences as meaningful, purposeful occurrences that can alter your course. She was a kind, passionate, wise, and caring soul. I would leave her chair feeling inspired to live more like CJ. Shes left an indelible impression on my heart, and will be forever missed. My condolences to her family, whom I know she loved so dearly.

I am in disbelief and heart-broken. CJ was an amazing human being with the best laugh. I remember her as a quiet and shy person....but I soon found out that she was neither....ohhh boy!!

I do not know where to begin as there are so many things to say about how amazing you were.. 1st memory that comes to mind is our conversations about natural healing herbs and essential oils that you and I were so interested in, just the passion and healing that you would put into everything that u would touch. I also remember you telling me that if you were not a hair stylist you probably wouldve been a Farmer (and I can totally see that being you) :) I was always amazed at how creative you were, whether it be hair, a costume you made last min for halloween or just the vision and dedication you had for any project assigned to you. I loved how much you smiled when telling me about your recent trip to Florence. These are a few of the many things that I loved about you and I will hold the memories close to my heart and pray that you can feel the love from every person or thing that you touched, None of us will be the same without you! CJ was one of the most sweet, talented and kind people I have ever known. I will remember with great fondness the last time that I saw her in August. It was the weekend she spent with our family in Chicago at my nieces wedding. We had a nice dinner on Friday with family and then the wedding on Saturday. My last memory of her is on the dance floor with my sisters, a big smile on her face dancing the night away. I will forever carry in my heart her great smile, gentle nature and enthusiasm for life.
