Carolyn Kay (Seal) Ervin, 69, of Spotsylvania, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, at Mary Washington Hospital.

Born on October 31, 1956, in Dayton, Ohio, Carolyn moved to Fredericksburg as a child, where she grew up and built the foundation of a life centered on family and faith. She spent her years devoted to her home and the people she loved. Carolyn attended James Monroe High School (Class of 1974) and Washington's Bible College. Carolyn grew up on Lafayette Boulevard at what is now Loisann's Hope House, which was purchased from her family.

Carolyn faced many health challenges in her later years, yet she met every struggle with quiet courage, resilience, and unwavering faith. She fought with strength and dignity, never allowing hardship to dim her kindness or weaken the love she had for her family.

She believed in the power of prayer and carried the burdens of others with grace and humility. Whether it was family, friends, or even strangers going through hardship, she prayed for them.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, Larry L. Ervin; children, Larry L. Ervin Jr. (Brynn), Renee Reid (Brian), and Rani Wood (Brian); granddaughter, Melissa Ervin, whom she lovingly raised and cherished as a daughter; grandchildren, Andrea Whelan, Nekae Reid, Jessica Wood, Addison Ervin, and Connor Ervin; and great-grandchildren, Emma Piazza, Chase Piazza, Kaiden Whelan, and Ryleigh Whelan, all who brought great happiness and light into her life. She is also survived by one brother, Paul P. Seal, and many nephews and nieces.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, William "Bill" Seal and Marilyn M. Seal; brothers, Morris "Butch" Seal MD and William "Billy" Seal Jr.; and sister, Sandra Seal Pates.

Carolyn will be remembered for her quiet strength, steadfast faith, and the gentle kindness she shared with everyone around her. Her prayers, her compassion, and her loving presence left a lasting impact on all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.

Visitation will be held Thursday, November 20, 2025, at 10 a.m. followed by an 11 a.m. funeral service at Hollywood Church of the Brethren (225 Ferry Rd., Fredericksburg, VA 22405). Interment will follow in Stafford Memorial Park. Flowers can be delivered to Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
