Carolyn Annette Goad, of Grosse Pointe Woods, a spirited and faith-filled soul, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2025, at the age of 86 in
Clinton Township, Michigan. Born on January 10, 1939, in Philadelphia, Tennessee, Carolyn's loving nature and zest for life touched all who knew her.
Carolyn's journey began in the rolling hills of Tennessee, where her story was shaped by the warmth of southern hospitality and the close-knit community that surrounded her. Her life was a testament to love, as she shared 52 years of marriage with her beloved husband, Eddie Goad, who preceded her in death on April 28, 2011. Together, they built a legacy of family, including their devoted daughters and sons-in-law, Traci and Rodney Mercer of Harrison Township, and Cindi and Rod Tincknell of Grosse Pointe Woods.
A proud grandmother, Carolyn's joy was multiplied with the birth of her grandson, Evan (Katie) Batts. Her great-grandchildren, Matthew, Brooke, and Michael, brought her immeasurable happiness. Carolyn's nurturing spirit extended to her beloved Shih Tzu, Kiki, who was a constant source of companionship and joy.
Carolyn's professional life was marked by her meticulous attention to detail and her dedication to her work in bookkeeping and clerical positions. Her colleagues respected her for her reliability and her unwavering support. Upon her retirement, she remained active in her community as a dedicated member of Grace Community Church in Detroit, where her faith was both a personal comfort and an inspiration to others.
Her interests were as varied as they were passionate. Carolyn found solace in the tranquility of her garden, and her love for jazz music often led her to concerts where she swayed to the melodies that moved her soul. An excellent cook, she delighted in preparing meals for her family and friends, often experimenting with new recipes that would become requested favorites. Carolyn's creative spirit shone through in her hobbies; she crafted beautiful silver jewelry, knitted cozy garments, and had a unique touch in sponge painting.
Those who knew Carolyn will remember her for her loving heart and her ability to find joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether she was floating above the clouds in a hot air balloon or finding treasures through home shopping, her enthusiasm was infectious. Her legacy is one of a life well-lived, full of moments that sparkled with her spirited nature.
Carolyn leaves behind a tapestry of memories that will be cherished by her family, including several nieces, nephews, and a circle of friends who were drawn to her vibrant spirit and loving presence. Her life was a beautiful reflection of her values-love, faith, and joy in every moment.
A memorial service and Celebration of Life will be held at a later date with burial of cremated remains at Cadillac Memorial Gardens, East, Clinton Twp.
