Carolyn Gonzalez (Brogan), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on June 10th in Stamford, CT. Born on September 27, 1943, in Winfield, KS, she was the daughter of Joseph and Marjorie (Nicholson) Brogan.
Carolyn graduated from Grenola High School in Grenola, KS, before continuing her education at Pittsburgh State College in Pittsburgh, KS, where she completed her degree in 3 years. She finished her studies with a Master's Degree in Finance from Long Island University. She married Richard "Rick" Gonzalez, and together, they enjoyed over 47 years of marriage.
Her long and successful career in the airline industry, including Pan American and British Airways, enabled her family to travel the world. After retiring from British Airways, Carolyn embraced her role as a devoted grandmother to Cole, Elizabeth (Libby), Richard (Richie), and Mabel.
In addition to her love of travel, Carolyn found joy in hosting wonderful dinner parties and growing extensive gardens.
She is survived by her husband Rick; their daughters Christine (Ryan) Olivera and Lynn (Sean) Crookston; her siblings Gary (Vicki) Brogan, Donella Johnson, Nancy (James Boomsma) Crowell, Janice Winters, Marty (Tom) Ware, Linda Sinnett, and Dana (David) Denton, her aunt Jetta Shaw, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Marjorie, and her brothers, Patrick and Carl "Beaver" Brogan.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pat Brogan Scholarship Fund in Carolyn's honor via Venmo @patbroganscholarship or check payable to Pat Brogan Scholarship and sent to Howard State Bank, PO Box 428, Howard, KS 67349.
The family welcomes friends to celebrate Carolyn's life at an open house at Carolyn and Rick's home, on Saturday, July 26th from 1pm - 6pm. Please reach out to Rick, Christine or Lynn for additional information.
A gravesite service will also be held in Moline, KS on August 9th.
