Carolyn J. Goody (Beck) July 24, 1934 - July 18, 2024
Carolyn passed away peacefully on July 18, 2024, at Mountain Valley Hospice of Gloversville surrounded by family and friends.
Carolyn was a lifelong resident of Ephratah, NY, where she and her husband built their home on Route 10 and raised their family of two daughters. She remained in that home until July of 2024.
She graduated from Johnstown High School in 1952 and worked at the General Telephone Company of Upstate New York from 1953 to 1957. She also attended nursing school before she married Edwin W. Goody in 1954.
In her younger years she enjoyed gardening, shopping, square dancing at Goody's Grill and just being with family.
She was predeceased by her parents Clifton and Cora Beck from Ephratah; as well as her husband Edwin Walter Goody in 1998.
She is survived by her two daughters, Leisa Spakoski (Greg) of Perth, and Leane King (John) of Palatine Bridge; four grandchildren Eric Matis (Abbey) of Palatine, Lindsey Matis (Chad Miller) of Canajoharie, Michael Spakoski (Sierra Sweeney) of Broadalbin, and Christopher Spakoski (Daisy Martinez) of Pflugerville, Texas; two great grandchildren, Adeline and Benjamin Matis of Palatine; and one sister-in-law, Shirley Mead of Mohawk; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
During her last ten years she remained at home with the help of numerous caregivers that took care of her every need. We cannot thank each and every one of them enough for their continued compassion, support and friendship they shared with her. All of them were special to her and her family.
We thank the staff of the Ephratah Volunteer Fire Department for their support over the years with all the calls to her home, most she knew as kids.
We cannot thank the staff at Mountain Valley Hospice enough during her short stay for their support and compassion to mom and her family.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, July 25, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the A.G. Cole Funeral Home Inc., 215 E. Main Street, Johnstown, NY.
Visitation for family and friends will be prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday, July 25, 2024, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM.
Interment will be at Ephratah Rural Cemetery, Ephratah, NY, immediately following the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ephratah Volunteer Fire Department or Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Ave., Gloversville, NY.
