Carolyn Gordon Malcolm

Carolyn Malcolm, 79, of Murrells Inlet, SC passed away peacefully on October 16, 2021 at her home, surrounded by family. Carolyn was born in Cumberland, MD on May 1, 1942, the daughter of Boyd "Tubby" Gordon and Lucy Gordon. Carolyn married her high school sweet-heart, Tom Malcolm, in 1965 and they enjoyed a happy life in Winchester, VA. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Carolyn enjoyed a 40 plus year career as a hair dresser maintaining friendships with many of her clients.
Upon their retirement, Carolyn and Tom relocated to Murrells Inlet. She absolutely embraced her retired life. Carolyn spent much of her time relaxing on the beach, lounging by the pool, going out to eat with family and friends, socializing in the neighborhood on her golf cart, and hosting get-togethers on her beloved back porch. Her door was always open to her friends and family. She also enjoyed Sunday services at the Belin United Methodist Church in Murrells Inlet followed by lunch with the ladies at the Spring House.
Carolyn is survived by her son Mark and his significant other Vanessa and her two children; her daughter Mary and her husband Steve and their three children; her sister Joanne; her sister-in-law, Jody and her husband Jay; several cousins, nieces, nephews and many, many dear friends.
In addition to her husband of 46 years, Carolyn was predeceased by her sister.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Belin United Methodist Church.
A memorial service will be held on Monday October 18, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Belin United Methodist Church in Murrells Inlet. The service will also be live streamed. Please navigate to the Belin UMC webpage at www.belinumc.org to do so.
