Carolyn Hilten Obituary
Carolyn was born in Kildare on Aug. 6, 1934, and was raised there. She attended Georgia Southern College. She eventually moved to Washington, D.C., where she met her husband, John Shadrick Hilten. Carolyn worked for the State Department as a secretary, but her passion was volunteering. Carolyn led Girl Scout troops, worked with handicapped children and then taught swimming and ran programs for the YMCA, finally running programs at her home pool for the children of the Kildare area. Most importantly, while she taught children how to swim in the water, she taught them about Jesus Christ who walked on the water!
Carolyn will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Claudia Lee Durheim; her son, John Shadrick Hilten Jr. (Kimmie); Carolyn will moreover be fondly remembered by her five grandchildren, Austin Tyler Hilten, Jonathan Parker Hilten, Alexander Kent Hilten, John "Jack" Durheim and Hannah Rachel Durheim.
