Carloyn Day Kitchens, of Covington, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at the age of 90. Mrs. Kitchens, a devoted member of Newton Baptist Church, passed away leaving behind a legacy of love, faith, and hard work. She retired from Clarion Metals after 15 years of dedicated service. Prior to that, she worked at Pacific Overall in Conyers for 19 and a half years and at Hanover Wire for 11 years. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren, who were the joy of her life. Mrs. Kitchens had a passion for flowers and gardening, finding peace and beauty in tending to her plants. She enjoyed attending church, singing southern gospel music, and cherished her church family deeply. Her kind spirit, strong faith, and loving heart will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Franklin D. Kitchens; grandson, Jeremy Kitchens; brothers, George Day, Robert Day, Frank Day, Harold Boots Day, Jimmy Day, Harvey Day; sisters-in-law, Bertha Day, Martha Day, Cornelia Day Kitchens.
Survivors include her sons, Wayne Kitchens (Bonnie), Douglas Kitchens (Kathy), Mickey Kitchens (Vickie); grandchildren, Cindy Kitchens, Adrienne Shapiro (Derek), Clint Kitchens (Tracey), Emily Mitchell (Austin); great-grandchildren, Lily Kate Mitchell, Reece Mitchell, Ila Rose Shapiro, Aura Kitchens, Asher Kitchens; sister, Shirley Taylor (Roy); brothers, Larry Day (Martha), Harrison Day (Joyce), Don Day (Linda), Russell Day (Ruth),Terry Day, Charles Day (Sherri); as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service for Mrs. Kitchens will be held Friday, October 17, 2025, 11:00 A.M, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, in Covington, with Rev. Todd Sweat and Rev. Jeff Taylor officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Baptist Cemetery, in Conyers. Friends are invited to visit with the family at the funeral home Friday prior to her service, from 9:30 - 11:00 A.M.
