Carolyn Powers

Carolyn Sue Paulich Powers, a long-time resident of Diamondhead, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on February 26, 2025. Carolyn was born on March 12, 1933, in Pleasanton, Kansas. She is reunited in Heaven with her parents, Anthony and Erma Anderson Paulich; sisters, Josephine Pernot, Regina Jones, Theresa Rankin, and brother, Leo Paulich; and her beloved husband of seventy years, William Robert (Bill) Powers.

 Carolyn was a devoted mother to her children, Kerri Guichet (Paul) and Shelli Domiano (Greg). She took great joy in spending time with her three grandchildren: Katherine Guichet Speaker (William); Hannah Domiano Messina, (Andrew); and Halie Domiano Albin (Jared); as well as her great-grandchildren: Kenzie and Drew Messina; and Wade and Norah Albin, creating lasting memories with each one of them. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews.

 Carolyn worked at Boeing where she met the love of her life, Bill. She enjoyed music and sang tenor in the Dotted Quarters, a quartet of the Wichita Sweet Adelines, Inc. During the 1950’s, the quartet traveled throughout the United States, recorded several records, and competed and placed in several Sweet Adeline national and international competitions.

 She and Bill married in 1953. Several years later, a job-related transfer prompted the family to move to New Orleans. Later the couple purchased a marine dealership, Cooper Marine, in Denham Springs, Louisiana. Together they ran the business where Carolyn worked as office manager and bookkeeper.

  Upon retirement, the couple moved to Diamondhead, Mississippi, where she was an active member in many organizations, including the Diamondhead Boaters Association. She and Bill took pride in being the oldest and longest standing members. She also volunteered at the Hancock County Food Pantry.

 Her greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with her family and friends. Carolyn enjoyed going to the local casinos where she loved to try her luck on the slot machines. Carolyn also loved the outdoors, especially fishing and boating, where she served as first-mate to Bill on many boating excursions. She loved to travel and was fortunate to see most of the United States and many countries abroad.

 Carolyn was blessed with a strong and abiding faith in God and with a gentle, loving spirit. She was a member of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Pass Christian. Carolyn had the biggest heart, and she was loved by many. Her memory will live on through her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered.

 The family would like to extend their appreciation to nurse practitioner, Katherine Speaker, for the excellent care that was given to Carolyn throughout the years. Special thanks to Carolyn’s wonderful caregivers as well as Notre Dame Hospice who loved and supported her and the entire family during this journey. The family is also grateful to Fr. Paddy Mockler and Van Nguyen for the weekly visits and bringing Carolyn the Sacrament of Holy Communion.

 Visitation will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow the visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. A private burial will take place at a later date.

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church or a donation to a favorite charity in her honor.
