Carolyn S. Robinson, age 92, of Spruce Pine, passed away peacefully with her loving family and grandchildren by her side at Watauga Medical Center on Saturday, November 8, 2025.
A native of Mitchell County, she was the daughter of the late Jim and Ann Cook Sullins, and the beloved wife of the late Clark S. Robinson, who passed away in 2009. She was also preceded in death by a son, Mark Robinson; son-in-law, Mark Boyd; and siblings, Roland Sullins, James Sullins, Emily Bayliss, and Lucille Hovis.
Carolyn was a 1951 graduate of Harris High School and retired after many years of dedicated service with Baxter Laboratories. She was a lifelong member of Central Baptist Church, where she loved singing in the choir. She also shared her beautiful voice by volunteering at the Brian Center, leading music and lifting the spirits of those around her.
She had a zest for life and a joyful spirit that touched everyone she met. Carolyn was an avid reader and loved watching football-especially the Super Bowl each year-and her favorite player was running back James Cook of the Buffalo Bills. Her family was truly the center of her world. She loved spending time with them, playing with the children, celebrating every milestone, and cheering proudly for their accomplishments. Carolyn was an incredible cook and enjoyed canning food alongside her family, passing down her recipes and traditions to her grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Suzanne Robinson, Deb Robinson, Craig Robinson and wife Kathy, and Lisa Robinson Boyd, all of Spruce Pine; grandchildren: Tammy Bailey, Stephanie Pittman, Josh McKinney, Jennifer Owens, Heather Hannan, Holly Hoilman, and Breanna Mahn; eleven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by her sister and best friend, Wanda Thomas of Newdale; and also a special friend, Tracey Buchanan of the Avery County Sheriff's Office, along with several extended family members and dear friends.
Per Carolyn's request, a private service will be held at Yancey Funeral Services, with graveside services and burial in the Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband, Clark.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Watauga Medical Center for their exceptional care, kindness, and prayers, as well as to Dr. Wolfe, Dr. Duron, and her primary care provider, Jacob Ramsey, FNP.
