Carolyn Ann (Wedel) Seidel, age 79, of Fairmont sadly left our world on February 21, 2025. Services will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 211 Budd Street, Fairmont on Saturday, March 1, at 11:00 am with visitation beginning at 9:30 am. Those wishing to view the service may do so on www.splfairmont.org. Memorials are preferred to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Fairmont, Martin County Historical Society or St. Jude's Research. Funeral arrangements are with Lakeview Funeral Home in Fairmont.
Carolyn was born on May 30, 1945, to Ernest and Ruth (Nolte) Wedel. She was raised in rural Fairmont where she attended high school (FHS Class of '63) and met her husband of 59 years, Robert Seidel, originally from Pelican Rapids. They were married on July 10, 1965, and had three children.
Known for her many talents, Carolyn was a bright light in the community, touching lives through her work, service and volunteerism. She was an orthodontic dental assistant for 25 years, owned and operated a private bridal business for 10 years, and worked for Lakeview Funeral Home for 17 years. Carolyn served on the board of and volunteered with Maplewood Independent Living/Lakeview Methodist Home, was a board member of Martin County Historical Society, as well as Lutheran Women's Missionary League - Clara Circle. She was a member and past president of Prairie Star Quilters Guild, volunteered at the Fairmont Hospital, with the Fairmont High School FACS department, the Let's Go Fishing organization and spent many hours at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Most of all, Carolyn enjoyed cooking, baking, and sewing (especially quilts).
Carolyn is survived by her husband Robert, three children, Kathryn (Larry) Vargo of Fairmont, Jennifer (Jeff) Fingarson of Becker, Todd (Kris) Seidel of Mora, and seven grandchildren Joseph Vigil, Benjamin Vigil, Lance Vargo, Abigail Fingarson, Aaron Fingarson, Connor Seidel, and Caitlyn Seidel along with three great-grandchildren of Lance's. She is also survived by two brothers Harland and Dennis (Diane) Wedel and numerous nieces and nephews.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, brother Donald Wedel, brother and sister-in-law Roland and Vivian Wedel, sister-in-law Phyllis Wedel, Robert's brother and sister-in-law Dennis and Helen Seidel, Robert's brother David Seidel, and several dear friends.
