Carolyn "Carol" Sue (Stogner) Stephens, 68, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2023 at her home.
Carol was born in Evansville, Indiana on June 22, 1954 to the late Tom and Dorothy (Culver) Stogner. She was a 1972 graduate of Reitz High School. Carol worked as a nurse for Welborn Hospital, Whirlpool, and T.J. Maxx. She was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Carol enjoyed gardening, photography, traveling, and spending time with her family. Carol fought a long courageous battle with ALS. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Carol will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Carol is survived by her husband of 44 years, John Stephens of Evansville, IN; sons, John Brandon Stephens (Kari) of Knoxville, TN and Justin Michael Stephens (Catie) of London, England; brother, Robert Stogner of Shepardsville, KY; and grandchildren, Caleb, Luke, and Andrew Stephens.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 100 E. Michigan St., Evansville, IN 47711, with Rev. Matthew Schilling officiating. Entombment will follow at Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends may visit from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at Browning Funeral Home, 738 E. Diamond Ave., Evansville, IN 47711 and again from 10:00 am until service time on Wednesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul's Lutheran Church.
The family would like to thank Heritage Hospice for their loving care and compassion.
