Durham – Carolyn Robertson Tippett, 88, passed away on Thursday, October 9th 2025 at her home after a courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. She was born in Henderson, NC to the late Jesse Thomas "Yank" Robertson and Lucy Riggan Robertson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Hight Tippett, with whom she shared a 62 year marriage.
Carolyn was a long-standing member of Hope Valley Baptist Church, whose greatest joy was giving to others. She loved her church and the people in it. Over the years she was a dedicated Sunday School teacher to children and adults, a volunteer for Vacation Bible School, and involved in many other activities. Before retiring, she worked for Central Carolina Bank (CCB) from 1978 to 1999 at their operations center in both the settlement and item processing departments.
One of her deepest passions and gifts was cooking, and sharing it with her loved ones. Mom's love, care, forgiveness and loyalty were unmatched and never ending. Our love for her endures forever.
Mrs. Tippett (Mema) is survived by her son, Michael Tippett (Margie); daughters, Michelle Lynn Tippett-Ivey (Freddie) and Amy Sue Tippett; 7 grandchildren, Lauren Ivey, Dylan Ivey (Melissa), Caleb Ivey, Candace Tippett (Joseph), Sahara Sipple, Michael Sipple, Christopher Sipple; 2 great grandchildren, Malayah Perry and Paris Perry.
The family will receive friends and family for a visitation beginning at 1:00 pm at Hope Valley Baptist Church on Tuesday, October 14th. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm.
Flowers are acceptable, or donations may be made to Hope Valley Baptist Church 6900 Garrett Road Durham, NC 27707.
The family would like to thank all of the medical teams that assisted in her care, including Duke Oncology at Pratt Street, Duke Hospital Staff and AuthoraCare Hospice.
The family is being assisted by Clements Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. in Durham. Online condolences may be sent to www.clementsfuneralservice.com.
