Miamisburg, formerly of Athens- Carrie Mae Dowler, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on October 25th, 2024, at Kettering Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was 82 years old.
Born on October 6th, 1942, in Athens, Ohio, to the late Clarence Riley Sr. and Evelyn June Mace Riley, Carrie graduated from The Plains High School in 1960. She went on to pursue a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant, specializing in home health care. Carrie's compassionate spirit and dedication to her work left a lasting impact on countless families in the Athens and Dayton areas. Her greatest joy came from caring for those around her, especially her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—her family was her world.
A passionate gardener, Carrie had a green thumb that brought beauty to her surroundings. Known for her playful spirit, she was also a cherished prankster, always ready to bring laughter to her loved ones.
Carrie is survived by her five children: Danny (Dusty McClure) Yoho, Teresa (Christopher) Capers, Angela (Brian) Robertson, Keri (Christopher) Yoho-Dodge, and Danita (Davy) Sharp; 11 grandchildren, including Rachael (Jeff) Markin, Andrew (Kylee Sams) Yoho, and Morgan Yoho, Stacie Roop, Natasha Yoho, Tyree “Ty” Yoho, Julienne Yoho, Emmalee Yoho-Dodge, Kirsten (James) Braglin, Kailyn (Tanner) Tritipo, David Sharp. 16 great-grandchildren, including Brayden, Cameron, Bentley, Corbin, Easton, Carter, Gianna, Owen, Bryson, Huntley, Owen, Harper, Michael, Jonathan, Bo, and Mabel. She is also survived by her stepdaughter, Dee Dowler Staten; daughter-in-law, Bonnie Yoho; step daughter in law, Liz Dowler; nephew, Clarence ‘Bud’ (Beth) Riley; and many step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Carrie was preceded in death by her son, Michael Yoho; great-granddaughter, Kyndel Roop; brother, Clarence Riley; first husband, Donald Yoho; Second husband Dennis Dowler Sr. grandmother, Goldie Mae Bell-Shields; and stepson, Dennis Dowler Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 2nd, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Hughes Funeral Home in Athens, OH, with Brian Robertson officiating. Burial will follow at Athens Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, November 1st, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
