Carrie Lu Kooman, 62, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, January 23, 2023.
The beloved wife of Stan Kooman for 41 years; cherished mother of Talia (Mike) Hammer, Benton (Melissa) Kooman and Corey (Jennifer) Kooman; treasured grandma of Kaiden, Caroline, Brooke, Wilder, Kinzley, and Holland. Her granddaughter, Faith Michele Hammer welcomed Carrie to her heavenly home. The dear sister of Chee (Jane) Whitaker and Cindy Whitaker; loving sister-in-law of Anna Flower Maki, Peter (Tracy) Kooman, Elizabeth (Mark) Livingston, Sarie (Paul) Anderson and Ingrid (Kip) Phoenix; the beloved daughter of the late Archie and Clarice Whitaker (nee Jones). Carrie was a loving aunt, great aunt, cousin and friend to many.
Carrie was born in Rolla, MO but developed her hard work ethic and drive that has been passed down to all of her kids while growing up in the small town of Dixon, MO. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Carrie spent many years as the Avon lady of the neighborhood and worked the last 16 years of her career at the Missouri Department of Transportation. She enjoyed watching QVC, the Weather Channel and whatever game Corey or Benton had on the TV at all other times. Carrie's memory will live on in her famous taco dip, crepes, delicious brownies, chocolate chip bars and chocolate cake. She took great pride in meticulously decorating her home for Christmas and displaying her large collection of Longaberger baskets for all to see and enjoy.
A visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday, February 10, 2023, at Hutchens-Stygar Funeral & Cremation Center, 5987 Mid Rivers Mall Dr., St. Charles 63304.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 11, 2023, with additional visitation from 10:00 am until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage people to make memorial contributions to Share Pregnancy and Infant Loss, as this organization was instrumental in providing support to the family in the loss of Carrie's granddaughter, Faith.
