Charles LoGrasso Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hutchens-Stygar Funeral & Cremation Center & Confluence Center from Oct. 6 to Oct. 7, 2025.

Publish in a newspaper

Charles "Chuck" LoGrasso entered eternal rest on Sunday October 5, 2025 after a brief illness at the age of 93.
Beloved son of the late Joseph and the late Jennie LoGrasso. Devoted husband of Jeanette LoGrasso (1951-2004) and the late Audree LoGrasso (2005-2023).
He was the loving father of Sue (Gary) Ritter, the late Rick (Shelley) LoGrasso, and Charles (Kathy) LoGrasso; cherished grandfather of Gary, Jr. (Michelle), Jaime (Damon), Keith (Tashsa), Rhiannon (Steve), Ricky (Kaeley), and Dominic; dear great grandfather of Andrew, Austin, Blake, Kody, the late Silver, Keegan, Jax, David, Lelaind, Lexi, Killian, Brinleigh, and two to be born in February, Haven and Maverick; much loved brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to many.
Bonus father, grandfather, and great grandfather to Audree's only daughter Pam (Jim) Kavanagh and their children and grandchildren. Kelli (Robert) Knowles, James (Lindsay) Kavanagh, Nick Kavanagh, John (Megan) Kavanagh, Maci Knowles, Karson, Mason, and Emerson Kavanagh, Conor and Griffin Kavanagh
Much loved brother and brother-in-law of the late MaryAnn and the late Joseph Haro; the late Thomas and the late Delores LoGrasso; Sarah and the late Raymond Walker; Joann and the late Larry Walton; Joseph and Delores LoGrasso. Cherished uncle, cousin and friend to many. He truly loved his family above all else.
Chuck worked in the food industry his entire life. He started as a young boy at Joe's Foodland, the family business in downtown St.Louis, beside his father and ended his career as a Union Local 655/Local 88 meat cutter for Dierberg's Markets. Throughout his working life he proudly operated 2 businesses of his own. Chuck's Market in north St. Louis and LoGrasso's Discount Meat Center on Broadway at Riverview Dr and later on Woodson Rd in Woodson Terrace. He employed many people over the years that became friends and family for life. He taught the grocery business and meat cutting trade to many people who advanced to the upper echelon of their trade. The reason for Chuck's success and the success of so many he took under his wing was the one of the first lessons taught to him as a child by his parents. All people are to be treated in a way you want to be treated regardless of age, race, social or economic status. Respect, patience and kindness- ALWAYS. He learned this lesson well and passed it on to those around him. He continued this practice his whole life right to the very end. Everyone who ever came into contact with him knows this to be the absolute truth.
Chuck was instrumental in establishing The Fraternal Order of Elks Lodge #2316 in Florissant. He was elected the second Exalted Ruler and was a lifetime member.
He was a member of the of the Woodson Terrace Business Association for many years, Member of St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, Long time resident of Florissant Missouri (1957-2004) and St. Peter's Missouri (2004-2025); Proud member of Union Local 655/Local 88, and especially proud member of Italian Pleasure Club.
Chuck was quietly proud of his service in the US Army during the Korean War. He served from 1951-1953 in Korea. I say quietly proud because like so many of his generation he never spoke of his memories from there. Whatever he experienced has now gone to the grave with him. But whatever he experienced contributed to the amazing, wonderful, generous man we all knew and loved and will dearly miss.
Today and Always...
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 13th, 2025 from 4-8pm and on Tuesday, October 14th, 2025 at 10am until the time of service at 11am at Hutchens-Stygar Funeral & Cremation Center. A graveside service including Military Honors will take place at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Florissant directly after the service.
There will be a luncheon following the graveside service at Hazelwood Center East (8969 Dunn Rd, Hazelwood, MO 63042).
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
