Carrington "Louis" Belcher Sr, a resident of Radcliff, KY, for 32 years who resided in Desoto, TX, for the past 2 years, passed away November 11, 2024, surrounded by his family. Louis was married to Voncile Elizabeth (Alexander) Belcher (76) for 58 years and the proud father of 4, Zenovia Yolanda Bass (58), Natasha Latoya (Nicholas) Chivers (53), Michi Dionne (Lavon) Washburn (51), and Carrington Louis (Brittany)Belcher Jr. (46). He's the grandfather to 10 and the great-grandfather to 16.
Louis was born in Roanoke, Virginia, on July 11, 1948, to James Casey and Evelyn Reynolds of Virginia and later adopted by Harvey & Mildred Belcher. He then moved to Biloxi, MS., where Eddie & Mildred Anderson raised him, where he developed his love for football, working on cars, music, and his ultimate pastime, fishing. Louis attended A.E. Perkins Elementary School and M.F. Nichols Junior and Senior High School, where he met the love of his life in the 7th grade. Louis graduated high school in 1966 and went to Texas, where he attended Henry Ross Perot Technical School before joining The United States Army on April 10, 1967. Louis duty stations included Fort Hood, TX; Ft. Bennings, Ga; Bamburg, Germany; Fort Lewis, WA; Mainz, Germany; and Fort Knox, Ky, where he retired as a 1SG in 1993.
Louis (affectionally known as Pig, Pop, Poppy, and Poppa B) is loved, cherished, and respected by 11+ siblings, two brothers-in-law, six sisters-in-law, two sons-in-law, and a host of nieces, nephews, and family friends some of whom he helped raise. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and mentor who will be dearly missed for the life lessons he imparted to many.
Some of the things his family will truly miss are the many road trips and fishing trips, survival tips, mechanical advice, life lessons, watching sports, talking about news and world events, listening to jazz or his favorite producer, Beat Mills, and the many football, fishing, and Army stories he loved to talk about.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, James Casey, Evelyn Reynolds, Harvey Belcher, Eddie Anderson, and Mildred Anderson, as well as his siblings, sisters Annie, Fannie, Daisy, and Dee Dee, and brothers Dwayne and Sam.
