Carroll Dillingham Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Young's Funeral Home - Ferriday on Feb. 13, 2026.
Carroll "Buster" Byron Dillingham was born on Thursday, December 9, 1948 in Natchez, MS. and passed away Wednesday, January 21, 2026 in Vidalia, LA. Buster lived a life marked by hard work, service, and loyalty. He began working in the oilfield as a teenager, learning discipline and determination early, before enlisting in the United States Marines. After completing his duty, Buster returned home and back to the oilfield, where his strong work ethic and leadership carried him into a supervisory role. Outside of work, he was a true outdoorsman who found joy and peace in hunting and fishing, spending countless hours in the woods and on the water. A gifted mechanic, he was always tinkering, fixing, or building something. Adventurous by nature and a gifted storyteller, Buster never lacked a tale to share. Above all else, he was a loyal, genuine best friend, and you were truly lucky to be his, always.

He was preceded in death by his father, Byron Harrison Dillingham, mother, Lillian Marie Pritchard, wife, Doris Roberts Dillingham, wife, Victoria Roberts Dillingham, brother, Butch Dillingham, two stepsons, John "Nunny" Roberts and William "Beau Pete" Roberts, step granddaughter, Shannon Coon.

Those left to cherish his memory are his siblings, Linda "Peanut" Altemus of San Antonio, TX; Glenda "Cooter" Brown (Phillip) of Braxton, MS, Rufus Darrell Lazarus of San Francisco, CA; Cindy Coleman (Glynn) of Natchez, MS, Gerald Lee Lazarus (Frances Bootsie) of Pelahatchie, MS; and special sister, Chasity Cowan (Michael) of Dodge City, IA, step-children, Ruby Andrus (Glen) of Ferriday, LA, JoAnn Carney Bean of Natchez, MS, David Carroll Mirra of Natchez, MS, Gloria Mirra of NY, four grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren; special lifelong friend, Richard "Murrell" Golman; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
