Carroll Roland Gagnon, 94, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died peacefully at home on Thursday, July 10, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of the late Rosemary T. (Donovan) Gagnon. Son of the late Francois and Gertrude (Morneault) Gagnon, he was born and raised in Quimby, Maine before living in West Roxbury. He was a graduate of Newman Preparatory School in Boston and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Boston College. He was also in the Master’s Program at Bridgewater State University. Carroll served in the U.S. Navy and was a Veteran of the Korean War. Carroll resided in West Roxbury for 8 years before moving to Stoughton in 1970.
Carroll was a school teacher at West Junior High School in Brockton for 23 years before retiring in 1988. He also was an X-ray technician at Boston City Hospital, Norwood Hospital, VA Medical Center in West Roxbury and Signature Healthcare in Brockton and Raynham for 55 years before retiring in 2010. He was a longtime communicant at St. Michael’s Church in Avon. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, reading and watching classic movies but his greatest joy was spending time with his family.
Carroll is survived by his children, Darren J. Gagnon and his wife Debra of Carver, Rosemary C. Gagnon-Damata and her husband Richard of Milton, Stephen A. Gagnon and his wife Karen of Avon, Jean-Marie F. Kelley and her husband Richard of Norton, Cheryl A. McFaun and her late husband James of Norton and Brendan J. Gagnon and his life partner Dina DeMarino of Easton as well as his grandchildren, Eileen and her husband Jason, Matthew and his wife Kailie, Joseph, Christopher, Alexander, Julia and Isabella. He was preceded in death by his 11 brothers and sisters and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visiting Hours will be held in the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Monday, July 14 from 4-7 PM. Funeral will be held from the Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 15 at 9:15 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Michael Church, Avon at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery, Avon. In lieu of flowers, donations in Carroll‘s name may be made to the VA Medical Center, ATTN: CDCE (135), 1400 VFW Parkway, West Roxbury, MA 02132 (www.va.gov/boston-health-care/work-with-us/volunteer-or-donate/).
