Carroll D. "Lefty" Luhmann

Jackson, MN: Private family services for Carroll "Lefty" D. Luhmann, 87, of Jackson, MN, formerly of Welcome, MN, will be held at the Kramer Family Funeral Home in Welcome, MN. Graveside services will be held at Welcome City Cemetery with full military honors by the Welcome American Legion Post #553. A time of celebrating and sharing memories with the family will be held April 20, 2024, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Golden Fenders, 700 2nd St. Jackson, MN 56143. Lefty passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 6, 2024, surrounded by his loving family at Sanford Hospital in Jackson, MN. The Kramer Family Funeral Home of Welcome, MN, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Carroll "Lefty" Dean Luhmann was born on May 20, 1936, in Northrop, MN, the son of Harry and Vera (Dreyfahl) Luhmann. Lefty attended school in Welcome, MN, and graduated from Welcome High School with the class of 1954, and was a letter winner in 3 sports.
Feeling a sense of duty to his country, Lefty enlisted in the United States Army on November 10, 1954, and he served his county proudly while being stationed overseas in Germany. He earned his honorable discharge on October 23, 1957, and returned home to Martin County.
On January 25, 1958, Lefty was united in marriage to Sharon Kaye Roloff. The couple made their home in Welcome where he worked for the Welcome Creamery. In 1969, the family moved to Jackson, MN, and Lefty worked for MN DOT for 33 years before retiring. Lefty and Sharon were blessed with four sons, David, Dallas, Jeff, and Grant.
Carroll was a simple guy with an incredible sense of humor. He had a knack for telling jokes and loved a good laugh. Family was an important part of his life and Lefty cherished spending time with his children and grandchildren supporting them in all of their events, from racing with his boys to music, dance recitals, and school sporting events.
Left to cherish his memory are his sons, David (Necita) "Netchie" Luhmann of Jackson, MN, Dallas Luhmann and wife, Julie Williams of rural Jackson, MN, Grant Luhmann of Ames, IA, and Jeff (Keri) Luhmann of Jackson, MN; grandchildren, Rachel (Eric) Earhart, Brandy (Matt) Hummel of Sioux Falls, SD, Sara Luhmann of Bloomington, MN, Kyle (Brooke) Luhmann of Mankato, MN, Emma Luhmann of Iowa City, IA, Nicholette Luhmann of Jackson, MN, and Nolan (Lorissa) Luhmann of Jackson, MN; great grandchildren, Rhilynn (Diego) Zebe, Alyssa Earhart, Allyson Earhart, Eva Hummel, Kaden Luhmann, Kaysen Luhmann, Knox Luhmann, and Kohen Luhmann, great-great grandchildren; Winsley Zebe, and Olivyann Zebe; sister-in-law, Shirley Roloff; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Carroll was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Vera Luhmann; spouse, Sharon K. Luhmann; brothers, Kenneth Luhmann, Russell Luhmann, and Harland Luhmann; sisters, Florence Cottew and LaVera Skalicky; brothers-in-law, Duane Roloff, Lyle Cottew, and Frank Skalicky; sisters-in-law, Vi Luhmann, Lucille Luhmann, and Doreen Luhmann; as well as many other extended family.
