October 2, 1947 in Marion Co, Al, passed away,,,,peacefully surrounded by family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. He was cherished by those who knew him. Carroll was a Christian man who had a deep love for God and depended on Him daily. His God never failed to meet his needs. One of his favorite scriptures was Psalms 37 25
I was young and now I am old, yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging bread.
Aviation has been active into Carroll’s life when he soloed at age 15. Most of his career was spent working on and flying Sky Crane helicopters for the Army National Guard. He was a retired veteran and served in Operation Iraqi Freedom.
He is survived by his wife, Renae and sons Casey (Cindy) and Keith (Jackie) and 3 grandchildren he adored, Zane, Elise and Piper. He also had a sister, cousins and several nieces and nephews.
Carroll was preceded in death by his parents Marcus Roszell and Wilma Grimes Roszell and sister Rhonda Campbell
It is impossible to sum up 77 years in a paragraph of a selfless, kind man who was gentle while exhibiting strength. He never wanted titles or accolades and wouldn’t want this obituary written about him. He had a servant’s heart who gave anomiously. Even during his last days, he always expressed gratitude to the nurses and doctors.
The family is honoring his request to be cremated and to not have a formal funeral service. There will be a “Home Going” come and go luncheon Saturday, August 23, 2025 from 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM at Carroll’s church, Faith2Walk, 4500 Katies Way, Bessemer,AL 35022.
