Caryl Z. McVaugh, a beloved member of the Cincinnati community, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on October 9, 1936, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to Franklin and Carolyn (nee Schueler) Zesch, Caryl exemplified warmth and kindness throughout her life.
After attending the University of Cincinnati, Caryl embarked on her teaching career, nurturing young minds in kindergarten. However, her most cherished role was that of a devoted mother to her sons, David and Michael. As they grew older, Caryl returned to work, finding fulfillment in her position at a veterinary office-a testament to her deep love for animals. She later spent many meaningful years at Cresthills Country Club in Amberly until its closing.
Caryl was an avid reader, a gentle spirit, and an enthusiastic horseback rider. She found joy in volunteering at the Scratching Post, where she adopted her beloved cat, Jessie, who became a cherished member of her family. Her soft-spoken nature and nurturing presence left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
She is survived by her son Michael McVaugh and her daughter-in-law Meg; her cherished granddaughter Kaetlin and her "favorite" grandson-in-law T.W. Schleich. Caryl's radiant spirit will be deeply missed by her family and the many lives she touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Queen City Hospice or the Scratching Post in Caryl's memory, honoring the kindness and compassion she exemplified throughout her life.
