Cassie Marie Nielsen, Superior, WI, passed away on November 25, 2025 at Essentia Health in Duluth, MN at 43 years old. Cassie was born on December 9, 1981 in Grand Rapids, MN to Kjersti Kannas and Gary Nielsen.
Cassie had a passion for the outdoors and found peace on the water with a fishing rod in hand whether casting a line on a river or sharing stories with her fishing buddies, she cherished every moment spent fishing. She was also a devoted Minnesota Vikings fan who never missed a game, cheering on her team through every season.
Those who knew Cassie well understood that she had a fiery, stubborn side-she was strong-willed and never afraid to speak her mind. Yet this same fierce spirit made her an incredibly loyal friend and protector of those she loved. Despite her stubborn streak, Cassie would drop whatever she was doing at a moment’s notice to help someone in need. Her family and friends often remarked that she would give a stranger her last dollar if they needed it.
Cassi’s combination of strength and compassion made her unforgettable to all who crossed her path. Cassie will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her
“Cass” as many called her, is survived by her mother Kjersti; her sons, Conner and Tyler Kassler of St. Paul, MN; her fiancé, Frank Anderson of Superior, WI; her brother, Chad Nielsen of Grand Rapids, MN; her sisters, Codi Couchman of Richland, WA and Vanessa Eichorn of Grand Rapids, MN; her ex-husband, WilliamTodorovich of Superior, WI; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gary Nielsen; and grandparents, William and Maryann Nielsen and Charles and Juanita Kannas of Bovey, MN.
There will be a Celebration of Life sometime next summer.
