Downs-LeSage Funeral Home - SuperiorRichard Erwin Hansen, 63, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Middle River Health & Rehabilitation Center in Hawthorne, WI. He was born on September 28, 1962 to Herbert and Daphne (Mackie) Hansen in Superior, WI.
He graduated from Superior Senior High School in 1980 and continued his education at Wisconsin Indianhead Technical to gain skills as a machinist. He eventually owned his own construction company, K&H Handyman Services, Inc., and quickly earned a reputation for his excellent construction work.
Richard met and married his first wife, Linda Jinda, and they were blessed with two children. After the divorce from Linda, he met Lynn Koivisto and their marriage brought three stepchildren into his life, who he loved as his own.
The most important part of his life was spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors, immersing himself in the sights, sounds, smells and the serenity of nature. He was known to always have a good (or bad) joke to tell and had a great sense of humor. Richard possessed a generous nature and was always the first to lend a hand to those in need.
Richard is survived by his children, Allyssa and Ryan Hansen; stepchildren: Jessica, Robert and Justine Koivisto; many grandchildren; mother, Daphne Hansen; and brothers Kenneth and James Hansen.
He was preceded in death by his father, Herbert; brothers, Herb and Steven; and sister, Karen Rae.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Sunday, October 19, 2025 from 12:00 ~ 3:00 PM at the Moose Lodge, 66 E 5th Street in Superior.
