Catherine Elizabeth (Johnson) Fauteux, of Hampden, Massachusetts, and formerly of Nassau, Bahamas, peacefully passed away on Saturday evening, October 4, 2025, at the home of her daughter, surrounded by the loving care of her daughter and son-in-law, Diane and John Flynn. Catherine was born in Nassau, Bahamas, on September 9, 1930, the beloved daughter of the late Johnny and Gladys (Sweeting) Johnson. Raised in Nassau, she later pursued her education in Miami, Florida, before moving to the United States in her late 20s. She eventually settled in Washington, D.C., where she met and married the love of her life, the late Louis Z. Fauteux, Jr. Catherine devoted much of her career to the healthcare field, working as a nurse and providing compassionate care to others. However, her most cherished role was that of a mother. She was deeply proud of her daughters and fully embraced motherhood - sewing clothes, making Raggedy Ann dolls and ballet bags, and enthusiastically holding the proud title of "dance mom." Her creativity, warmth, and unwavering support left a lasting impact on her family. A woman of strong Christian faith, Catherine was a devoted member of the Assembly of God Church in Springfield, where she found great spiritual strength and community. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Louis Z. Fauteux, Jr., her brother Fletcher Johnson, and her sisters Frederica Johnson, Rosie Johnson, and Norma McCartney. Catherine leaves behind her two devoted daughters: Linda Bartlett and her husband Robert of Nassau, Bahamas, and Diane Flynn and her husband John of Hampden, Massachusetts. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Georgette Strachan and her husband Christopher, and Robert Bartlett Jr. and his wife, Heather, her two devoted sisters Sandra Lloyd and her husband Douglas of Montreal, Canada and Andrea Smith, her 2 brothers, Dudley Sawyer and his wife, Marva, Gerald Sawyer and his wife, Barbara, all of Nassau, Bahamas. Catherine also leaves behind three treasured great-grandchildren: Eva, Joshua, and Luke. She was the loving aunt to Shelly, Abigial, Diane, Patricia, Patrice, Trevor, Randy, Dereck, Alex, Elenor, Juan, Erica, and Enrique. She was also a great aunt to Haley, Steven and J.B. Her legacy of love, faith, and resilience lives on through them. Family and friends will gather to honor Catherine's life on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Byron Keenan Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center, 1858 Allen Street in Springfield. A funeral home service will follow at 6:00 PM. Burial will be private. Catherine will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
