Catherine Christine Martinson Hansen, age 99, passed away on October 5, 2025.
Catherine was born on July 9, 1926, to Anton and Marie Martinson in Two Harbors, MN. She graduated from Clover Valley High School in 1944 and went on to earn her RN from St. Luke's School of Nursing in 1948. She dedicated her entire nursing career to Itasca Memorial Hospital-now Grand Itasca-where she cared for patients and their families with compassion and skill throughout her life's work.
Catherine was an active member of First United Church of Coleraine and Bovey, St. Luke's Nurses Alumni Association, and the Minnesota Nurses Association. She also volunteered with First United Women's and spent several years volunteering at Vandyke Elementary School.
In 1949, Catherine married Donald Hansen, and together they built
their family in Coleraine, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents Anton and Marie; husband, Donald; brothers Ralph and Roy Martinson; and step-grandchildren Britnee and Brent Cleve.
Catherine is survived by her sister Dorothy Foulkes of Dousman, WI; sons John (Nancy) Hansen of Coleraine, MN and Martin (Billie) Hansen of Bondurant, WY; grandchildren Aric (Emily) Hansen and
Carly (Ryan Yarbrough) Hansen; great-grandchildren Elinore, Margret, and Lydia Hansen; step-grandchild Brandon Cleve and family; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A private graveside service for immediate family will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be directed to the Grand Itasca Foundation Scholarship Fund or First United/Lawron Presbyterian Church.
