Waynesville—Catherine Ann Hoglen age 57 passed away at her sister's home in Bryson City after a battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born on February 7th, 1952 to Ruth Caldwell Hoglen and the late Claude Hoglen in Haywood County. She graduated from Tuscola in 1970 and continued her education at Kings College in Charlotte, graduating with a degree in fashion merchandising. She recently worked for the Super 8 Hotel at the front desk and at Clyde Rays Florist. She attended the Kingdom Hall. In death she rejoins her father and her brother David Hoglen. Left to celebrate her life is her mother Ruth Caldwell Hoglen of Waynesville, her sister Carolyn Hoglen Russell and her husband Rev. David Russell of Bryson City, NC., her uncle Woody Caldwell and his wife Dorothy of Hazelwood, her aunt Charlotte Caldwell of Waynesville and special cousin Julie Stiles. Many other cousins and friends also survive her. Services will be held at 11 AM on Monday, May 25, 2009 in the Chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations. The family will receive friends from 10 until 11 AM prior to the services. The Rev. David Russell will officiate. Burial will be in the Garrett Hillcrest Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to SARGE of PO Box 854 Waynesville, NC 28786. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the United Methodist Womens Group in Bryson City and to Jeanette and Alice for all their love and care to Catherine during her illness.
