Catherine Hyde Obituary

Catherine K. Hyde

1938-2026

Salt Lake City, UT-Catherine K. Hyde, age 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by love. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, Catherine lived a life rooted in faith and family.

Catherine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Allen Hyde; her parents, Dominic and Teresa Colonno; her brother Joe Colonno, her uncle Sam Nesi and aunt Leona Nesi; her cherished great-grandson, Cashy Hyde; and her nephew Joe Canham.

She is survived by her devoted sons: JD Hyde (Julie), Patrick Hyde, and Sam Hyde (Jenny). Catherine was a proud and loving grandmother to Dominic Hyde (Micky), Michael Hyde, Carissa Hyde (Dominique Wilson), Jakota Curtis, Julie Knott, and Jenny Knott, and a deeply cherished great-grandmother to Colten John, Catherine, Rebel, Joaquin, James Allen, and Nori Jae.

She is also survived by her brother Sam Colonno; sisters Ellen Colonno and Millie Canham (Dennis); cousin Carol Armstrong (Jack); many beloved nieces and nephews- Tina Zvonek (Dan), Teresa Nielson, Dominic Colonno, Drew Flinders, Ashley Cowan, Brittany Anderson, Tony Colonno, Gia Colonno McNaughton, Rick Canham, Stephanie Canham, and Dennis Canham; and cousins Jeff Armstrong, Scott Armstrong, Jack Armstrong, and Marianne Armstrong.

Catherine was a woman of deep and unwavering faith. She was known for her gentle spirit, her open heart, and her ability to accept and love everyone just as they were. Being a mother and grandmother was her greatest joy, and she found happiness in the simple moments-attending church, visiting family, knitting, cooking, and gathering loved ones together for Sunday dinner.

She was a proud graduate of West High School and dedicated over 30 years of her career to O.C. Tanner, where she was respected for her commitment and strong work ethic.

Above all else, Catherine leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and family. Her presence was steady and comforting, her love unconditional, and her faith a guiding light to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever held in the hearts of those she touched.

Aunt Catherine was one very special lady to me and my family. I have many memories of my Nona visiting with her and Aunt Leona and Uncle Sam. After my grandparents passed away and I had moved away from Utah we would chat over the phone sometimes for long times chatting about memories we had in the past and talking about God and family. I will miss her so much she never had a bad thing to say about anyone and was always so positive. I have a pair of her famous knitted socks and so do my kids. We was so giving and loving! She would always tell me give your kids a big hug and a kiss for me luv yas. I adored her and really took it hard when I found out she had passed away. I will miss her dearly. I know that she is with the Lord and rejoicing in seeing her husband reunited again and her family that she so deadly missed. My deepest condolences to her family that she loved so very much. Her legacy lives on through the ones she touched with her tender heart.

I met her about nine years ago when I joined the Italian League. She always greeted me with a warm smile and hug. I am so happy to say she gifted me with a pair of her hand knitted slippers. I will cherish them as I will her memory.

Loved Catherine so much. She was such a joy to work with at O.C. TAnner...she was like another mom to me. She always treated others with kindness and I loved her laugh. Bless her family with comfort at this time.

Cousin Catherine has been such a blessing in my life. She was always there for my mother, Carol. They were quite often partners in 'crime.' Catherine helped me to document some of my Italian heritage including medical history and treasured recipes. She was always available to answer my questions. I will miss our telephone chats and reminiscing in person. She is a true gem. Love you, Catherine Prayers and hugs to the family. So sorry I won't be able to join you all at her services. I'm in Idaho for the arrival of my granddaughter. Much love your way!
