Catherine V. Loupos

Catherine V. Loupos, a cherished sister, aunt, and sister-in-law, passed away on October 2, 2025, at the age of 87, in Freehold, NJ. Born on December 30, 1937 in Newark, NJ to Helen and Anthony Basil Loupos, Catherine's life was characterized by a deep love for her family, faith and career.
Catherine grew up in the neighboring towns of West Orange and East Orange, NJ before moving to Freehold in 1988 where she has resided since.
As an elementary school teacher, with the South Plainfield Board of Education, she instilled a love of learning in countless students, leaving an indelible mark on the community and shaping the minds of future generations.
A member of St. Barbara's Greek Orthodox Church, Catherine's faith was integral to her life. She was a dedicated caregiver to her mother who passed away in 2012. Outside of work, Catherine cultivated a wide array of interests and hobbies. She was the embodiment of warmth and generosity to her family, whom she loved more than anything, especially when it came to spoiling her nieces and nephews. Shopping trips and seaside excursions to Manasquan beach were also among her favorite pastimes. Catherine loved learning and reading, she could often be found listening to audio tapes of stories during long drives, enveloped in the narratives and lessons they held. She was an avid reader, her curiosity extending to the study of history, with a special fascination for Egyptian architecture.
She leaves behind her brother William Loupos, her nieces Kristine Hollywood and her husband Ed, Nicole Panico and her husband Lou; her nephews Anthony M. Loupos and his wife Annie, Chris Loupos, and Michael Loupos and his partner Molly. The next generation of her family, great-nephews Anthony W. Loupos, Jackson Panico, and Jace Loupos, as well as great-nieces Emma Hollywood, Katharine Hollywood, and Alison Panico; as well as her sister-in-law Amelia Percy and her husband Dale.
Catherine will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2025 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, 2482 Church Road, Toms River, NJ 08753.
A graveside burial will take place on Monday, October 13, 2025 at 11:30am at Ocean County Memorial Park, 1722 Silverton Road, Toms River, NJ 08753.
