Catherine M. Macaulay

Catherine Macaulay of Haverstraw, NY passed peacefully on January 5, 2026 with her loving family by her side. She was the daughter of Alfonso and Margaret Gamboli, and the beloved wife of Howarth "Red" Macaulay, all of whom predeceased her.

Catherine is survived by her daughters: Deborah Smith (Martin), Marion Koscica (John), Patricia Macaulay (Joseph Lyons), and Thomas Macaulay. (Mark Bennett). She was the proud grandmother of Martin Smith (Clara), Derick Macaulay, Leandra Koscica, and Bridgit Macaulay, and a loving great-grandmother to Nathaniel, Caleb, and Kellen Smith. She is also survived by her sister, Loretta Meketa (Fred) and brother in law Carl Gilpatrick, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

While raising her children, Catherine spent 25 years as a secretary at Haverstraw Middle School-a career she loved as much as the many friendships she formed there. She was a devoted lifelong parishioner of St. Peter's Church and served faithfully as a Eucharistic Minister. Catherine was a member of the Societa SS Santa di Montevergine, where she served as a Trustee. Catherine was a member of the Haverstraw Senior Citizens Club.

Catherine was an avid bowler who enjoyed many years bowling with her sisters at Hi Tor's Lanes, and she was also an enthusiastic bingo player until her health began to fail.

Catherine's Funeral Services: Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at George M. Holt Funeral Home from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. Catherine's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:00 AM at St. Peter and St Mary's Church, 115 Broadway, Haverstraw, NY 10927. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery, Route 9W, Haverstraw, NY 10927.Catherine will be laid to rest beside her husband Howarth, "Red" on Thursday, January 8, 2026.
